why do americans and its citizens whom are not american mix up race, ethnicity and nationality and use stereotypes to describe a national group of people?
i mean the hispanic latino thing why do people think those are races? and that latinos all look like j-lo/ marc anthony, all the way to down to some famous mexican actors today?
why do people think latinos look a certain way and that if your dark skinned and resemble african americans then they wont think they're hispanic/latino but instead a black person ethnic wise not race
why do people think latino/ hispanic is a racial group and that latinos cant be white ppl racially?
and some latinos think that way aswell cause they are in america or are prone to mainstream identity.i met many white latinos before who all dont look the same many from italy, england, france and spain living in south america countries and a few in the caribbean and central america

For all the people who say Latino is a race please go get some education. there are only three races - ******* (Black), Caucasian (White), and Mongoloid (the people from the east, like the Asians).
Latino is an Ethnicity and they can be any race, Just like African American does not mean Black...it means you are an American of African decent, there can be white African Americans (if you are white and were born on the African continent but are now an American citizen you are African American), as a black Caribbean person I hate being classed as African American when I'm not.
Anyway its sad that in the 21st century we are still discussing the crap anyway we are all human

American society is built on a structure of exclusion. Lumping people into a faceless group allows others to ignore them as individuals, this makes the us/them dichotomy very easy, check a few incidentals like accent and skin color and you know who your friends are, no need to bother getting to know anyone and doing it on a person by person basis. As to the reason people think Latino/Hispanic is a racial group, lots of them proclaim, quite loudly, that that IS what they are. Back in the 70s there was huge talk among spanish speaking Americans about "La Raza", In Balboa park in San Diego they even had a "Cultural Center of the Race", THE race, as if there were no others. What else would you expect people to think? I've met people claiming to be African-American who knew nothing at all about Africa, the same with Irish-Americans, and a host of others. There's no such thing as Mexican blood, European blood, or even Black or White blood, we all bleed red. Untill people everywhere accept that, we will never be one people, under God or otherwise.

It is true that many Hispanics look white...because they are white.
If you saw my father-in-law (who is from Mexico) you wouldn't even know he was Mexican. You'd think he was English.
Here's a question for you:
Why do you think you are any better than the people of whom you speak when you generalize about what Americans and her Citizens do, say or think. You don't know most of us. I would never assume to know for certainty where someone is from just by looking at them. And I would never assume that I know what all of America is thinking.
Thank you.

Why do you assume all Americans assume anything? That in itself is a stereotype. Your statement "why do americans and its citizens whom are not american" makes no sense, because I live in America, I am an American citizen, therefore I am American.

Because its easier for most Americans to be insensitive to other cultures than it is for them to invest the time and care necessary in giving respect to their fellow human beings.

YOU WIILL NEVER BE WHITE, BE PROUD OF WHAT YOU ARE, whites are white, not latinos, same with asians who believe they are white coz their skin is alittle bit fair, no it doesnt matter how fair your skin is you are NOT WHITE, period.
