Don't expect to get rid of it in 10 minutes or so.
Take a washcloth and use it as a hot compress by soaking it in hot water (almost as hot as you can stand...don't scald yourself) and wring it out, hold it on the pimple. When the washcloth cools down (about 3-4 min.) repeat the same several times. Yes, it takes a little work. After about an hour, use you fingers (not fingernails) and gently apply pressure by squeezing. Don't overdo it. If you don't get results, start again with the hot compress for another hour and try again. Don't squeeze too hard and rupture the poor causing possible scarring later. It will take it's own time but using a hot compress will speed up the process. When you are able to drain the pore, rinse the area thoroughly with hydrogen peroxide. This also works well for a stye. You do want to clean with hydrogen peroxide or alcohol to avoid infecting other pores and to help eliminate re-infection of the same pore.
Always be on the safe side. Use a white washcloth that will be laundered with a little bleach since bleach is an excellent sanitizing agent.

The least inexpensive way is to apply toothpaste on it. The reasonable way is to get 100% Tea Tree Oil and apply it to the area. Tea Tree does not cost more than $8 for a little bottle, but you can use it for a long time. This brings the irritation down and gets rid of the acne in the shortest amount of time.

Origins "Spot Remover Acne Blemish Treatment Gel" is the best stuff in the world. Dip just the tip of a Q-tip in it and then press into the zit for the count of 10. If you put it on before bedtime, the zit's pretty much gone by morning.
It's $10/little container, but it lasts a wonderfully long time. It's also much better on your skin than toothpaste and won't scar like you'll do if you pop the zit.
You can buy it at any major department store chain that carries Origins, like Macys/Marshall Fields.

Ones that exist? Pop it, keep it clean. Or try Clearasil acne spot remover if you dont want to pop them. There's less scarring that way. It will dry out the zit quickly. Try a bit of oil free cover all on the spot while you're waiting for the redness to go down.
How not to get them? Wash your face every single day before going to bed and anytime after you've been sweating.
Good luck!

1) do what kissatina said about the hot compresses
2) once you've drawn it out over a couple of days, start using a benzoyl peroxide cream at night (about a pea-sized amount, and rub it GENTLY until absorbed).
just the 2.5% cream though -- nothing higher, because will just dry you out and is no more effective. neutrogena on-the-spot should work fine.
3) don't listen to people who tell you to pop it; it will only cause scarring. that's common knowledge, but i've also learned the hard way.

Put hot compresses on it, until it comes to a head and opens, then keep it washed with soap and water, and apply a small dab of Antibiotic ointment that you can get over the counter at your local drug store.
Don't apply any make up or power instill after it has completely healed.

Put toothpaste on it every night. The toothpaste will dry it up and it should be gone in a day or two. DON'T pop it though! It will leave scars!
