For really quick relief I take liquid Advil (400 mg I believe) with orange juice or any other real fruit juice, it makes the medication work faster.
Oh and I also lay down on my back with a cold towel on my face (must cover your eyes and forehead).

I have suffered from migraines since I was 10 years old-I am now 50 so I have had 40 years experience. I do know a bit about them. First, you can have a migraine at any time. There is no set pattern-I have gone months and even years without having a single migraine. There are many migraine triggers. Hormones play a big part. That is why women suffer from migraines 3 times more than men. A week before your period is the worst time. I found that birth control pills helped me. Also, sinus problems and allergies as well as hot weather can trigger migraines. Certain foods can also be a trigger-chocolate and sugar are the number 1 offenders. Cheese can also do it. Watch your stress level too. Ask your Doctor about the triptan drugs such as imitrex and maxalt. These are very effective-they are expensive though. I have found that 2 regular excedrin works pretty good most of the time-the trick is to take medicine before your headache gets to bad. Good luck.

You poor thing, I have suffered from Migraines for years and I always have the worst ones during my period. Excedrin Migraine has worked for me in the past, but I take Imitrex injections which are prescription. Lie down in a quite, cool, dark place and take it easy for a while. Place a cool rag on your head and do your best to sleep. If you can choke it down, a Goody's headache powder will knock it out quickly. Just don't drink it with water, it will make you choke. I hope you feel better soon

an herbal supplement called MiGone Plus will actually help eliminate migraines altogether. It contains feverfew and Milk Thistle. Helps for menstrual cramps too! This site has some good info about it.
Good Luck

Well, there is a solution without any medication.
Go for a manual one-time treatment called Atlasprofilax. The effect on the self-healing power of the body is simply amazing - own experience. :-)
And it's really worth travelling far - at present, the treatment is available in California and Europe only, costing less than 200 Dollars. Good luck!

excedrine helps a ton! you dont need a prescription for it and it is stronger than the other headache stuff.
when my sister gets migraines she puts a cool rag on her neck and lays down for a few hours. If they are really bad, the only thing that will make them better is if she throws up .(which i don't suggest doing!)
hope this helps

During your period? Mydol. Excedrine works great for normal headaches, but if they're associated with your period, I've never taken anything better than Mydol. Mydol also gets rid of any cramps you have. I don't have cramps very often, but they're horrid when I get them, and Mydol knocks them right out.
