They (ABC) said that Star lost creditbility with the audeince because she was not forth coming about how she lost her weight.
And they stated that the fact that she used her celebrity to get freebies for her wedding a few years ago did not set well with them or the general public.

Before you answer please think about this:

Celebrities have been getting gifts of all kinds for ever just because of who they are. And why is it our business if you lost the weight naturally or if she had some kind of surgery?

Star stated on many occasions that she had "medical intervetion" to lose the weight because it was a matter of life and death for her. Not that she needed to share that with us.

I never really liked The View because it always came across to me as a bunch of women yapping, in a very unplanned manner... And they just keep getting louder. Not a show I want to watch very early in the morning. Star never really stood out to me on the show, and I think she may have in fact gained from this. She wasn't technically 'fired' - her contract was discontinued. I saw her talking about it on The Today Show and I thought the way that she acted was very commendable. This - along with her weight loss - has given her plently of good publicity and will probably help her in future endeavours. I'm not really looking forward to Rosie O'Donnell being on the show.... I find her rather loud and obnoxious... and really don't see how she'll fit in with the group.
Hollywood is a funny place....when people are too poor to afford things... no one helps them out. By the time they become rich enough to buy whatever they want, companies are more than willing to give it to them for free. I know it's just for publicity or whatever....it's just morally so wrong.
It doesn't really affect me how she lost the weight, but if she had Gastric Bypass then why not tell people? If she's a ''celebrity'' and had success from the surgery, others who are also in a 'life or death' situation due to their weight may follow in her footsteps...

Star was not open about her weight loss method because she was writing a book about it that she hoped would be a best seller. Like you said, celebrities get gifts all the time, but they get these gifts in exchange for publicity so Star had to plug them on the show in order to keep the gift. No, I don't think she was robbed.

I do however, think that Star shot herself in the foot by being so stubborn. She should have announced her resignation at the agreed upon time. Now, she might have a hard time because so many people thinks she is uncouth now.

Frankly man i really dont know. All i know is that the points you brought up were very good and true. What star in Hollywood hasn't used his or her status to obtain some privileges. And about her weight issues, not all people are forthcoming about their personal issues. Frankly, you didn't need to be a rocket scientist to know she had surgery. Judging by the reasons you gave I'd say that yes she got robbed sort of but there must've been more reasons like internal feuds with directors and such things that prompted her departure frmo the show. And last but not least....Why do you care hahahahah.

Rosie O' Donnell who has already had a very successful talkshow solo versus Star Jones who is seen as a self fulfilling so called diva. ABC knew that no love was lost between these two and simply chose to go with the one who had a successful track record as a solo host in the talkshow arena.

It was a little sickening at times to watch Star talk about herself so much at times. She should have her own talk show then she can self promote all she wants.

That whole show is so Stepford Wife-ish. I really become a raging misogynist when I listen to them talk. I can't watch that show.

I don't have anything against other woman. I have great respect for Oprah, and I don't feel like vomiting when I watch her show (or any other female-focused shows), like I do when I watch The View.

I don't want to even mention Elisabeth Hasselbeck, a Bush fanatic, a pretty little birdie who knows nothing about the world and politics, but just supports the status quo.

I don't think so. Star Jones was one of the most uppity people I've ever seen after she had her WLS. She was so full of herself it was ridiculous, and getting difficult for *everyone* to handle. Was she robbed? No. She got what she deserved for having her "holier-than-thou" attitude. It's not about whether or not she disclosed the truth about her weight loss, it's about how much her attitude changed after she had it done. She became a royal pain in the a$$, the people who were working with her couldn't stand her anymore, and her bosses thought it would be better to let her do her own thing (which she was trying to do anyway, so hey).

When you are a tv/public personality and you lose weight that drastically... and you are not forthcoming about "how"...you would
lose credibility with your viewers. She also looked very different
after the weight loss...not in a good way...in my opinion.
She is a rather outspoken personality, and rubs some people the
wrong way.
She seems strong and this publicity may gain her more supporters.
She will probably get her own new talk show.

I don't think she was 'robbed'. I don't care what she did to loose weight or what free stuff she got, and those aren't directly the reasons they fired her. Her viewer likability ratings, or whatever they are, were too low. The shows viewers didn't like her, basically. So they fired her to have a chance to bring in some one more well liked to keep the shows ratings up. It's all about ratings really. Not her personal business.

Getting her off the air was the best thing that ever happened to The View. She didnt fit in with her co hosts. She was very irritating! I just wonder when her hubby will come out of the closet?

Often times people of mediocre talent endure hardship with their employers. Star Jones may have suffered, but hey, I hadn't even heard of her until then. She suffered in the limelight, even though it was a short one. See, there is a brightside to everything!
