Definitely.

I had my doubts when he went to Washington, since he'd had the luxury of running behind a Denver offensive line that can make anyone look like a star (see Mike Anderson).

I know he hasn't been able to score as many TDs as a Redskin, or put as high an average-per-carry as he did in Denver, but that's not really his fault. His line in Washington isn't as good, and teams have had the luxury of stacking the line due to the Redskins' horrid passing game.

Portis is a gamebreaker, and one of the elite. I don't like the Redskins, but I respect a great player like Portis.

I think Clinton Portis has a chance to be the top running back in the NFL this year. Ignore the passing game -- it's not really that improved. The key is the new offensive coordinator, Al Saunders. He's the guy who got Priest Holmes and Larry Johnson their yards in Kansas City, and he's bringing that blocking scheme and play calling to Washington.

Clinton Portis is a stand-out RB in the NFL, but in my opinion he's only Top 10 good. There are much better RBs in the league such as, James for the Cardinals, Alexander for the Seahawks, Johnson for the Chiefs, Barber for the Giants, and Tomlinson for the Chargers.

Most definitely. I would put him in the top 5

1. Shaun Alexander
2. Larry Johnson
3. Ladainain Tomlinson
4. Tiki Barber
5. Clinton Portis

Clinton Portis is definitely in the upper-echelon of running backs in the NFL. You would be hard pressed to keep him out of the top 5. Their passing game has improved slightly, but Joe Gibbs teams rely on running the football, that is the Redskins bread-and-butter.

I'm also a die hard Skins fan, but this won't change my opinion. Yes, he will be great. Since the Skins have a better passing game the opposing defence will lay off the run more and start to defend against the pass, therefore leaving holes which Portis can run through! GO SKINS!

He is one of the top 12 or so runnig backs, but not even close to the top 5.

1) Tomlinson
2) Larry Johnson
3) Shaun Alexander
4) Priest Holmes (even retired he could run all over Portis and most NFL defenses)
5) Edgerrin James

Joe Gibbs centers his offense around the running game. The improvement to the reciever position won't change that. Portis will be the main focus of the offense. New recievers just means more help and more points on the board.
