live on less than you make, have an emergency fund of at least 3 months of expenses. Then when crap happens, it aint no biggie.

This happens to a lot of people. The best defense against this is to pay off your debt and get an emergency fund (3-6 months) in the bank. Then, when life throws you a curve ball, you can hit it over the fence!

As crappy as it seems money comes down to you either got it or you don't. Sometimes we seem to be on top of all the bills and credit cards are payed down and then BAM! We are screwed. Car problems, medical bills, lawyer bills (child custody battle), home repairs, new appliances, gas prices, and so on. It is true that you should try and save for emergencies. But sometimes that money is gone and the vicious cycle begins again!
I totally understand and yes I try and save my money and stay home and do all the broke stuff and still struggle. We make very good money but we don't get to keep it!

I used to have problems where life would hit me with a financial disaster and then I had to scrounge for a long time afterwards. Then I learned the secret. You don't scrounge after you have a financial disaster, you scrounge before you have the financial disaster. If you scrounge and save up 3-6 months salary before you have the problem, it's not so bad a problem when it hits. You never know when the problem will hit, so you always have to be prepared.

I hear ya. My fiance' and I make good money, but we have major bills. Just when we are caught up and have extra to play with or save, other odd ball things come up, like a birthday, an unexpected bill or what have you. One day, I'll be okay. I'm sure of it.

Yeah I know what you mean. I make pretty good money, just when I think I can put some a side, something else comes up to take it away.
