Plain toothpaste will clean silver very well. Avoid ammonia, windex or Mr. Clean for sterling, because often silver has a coating on it to keep it from tarnishing, and they will strip off the coating.

For gold and gemstones (Not pearls!!!), a capful of Mr. Clean in a bowlful of hot water will do wonders.

Aside from jewelry cleaner that you can buy at any drugstore, you can use toothpaste (the kind without any gel in it). I know it sounds weird, but my mother cleaned all her jewelry, gold, silver, and gemstones with a little bit of toothpaste and an old toothbrush.

Here's what I do all the time. Go to your local jewlery store, usually one of the good chains like Cresent, or Kay jewlers. And just aske them if they could clean a piece of jewlery for you. They don't charge and it only takes a moment.

walmart has silver cleaner that you can buy, or they will clean it for you right there in the jewlery department, or use a toothbrush and toothpaste and water does a good job.
