I may go along with one murder a murderer makes, though many in this world will not even concede that crime irredeemable. But one lie branding a person a liar? Forever? Yours is a world of very stark contrasts--indeed cruel contrasts.
My wife comes up to me and asks, "Does this dress make me look fat?" Hmmm. It's a small lie to assure her of her beauty in my eyes, but one I am willing to tell a thousand times.
A retarded child asks his father if he or she is dumb? Certainly the other kids, those cruel stark contrast kids have made them feel that way and sobbing the child comes home seeking the truth from his trusted parent. If I am the parent no such affirmation will ever cross my lips.
The dying parent, perhaps even a drunk, and abusive parent asks on their death bed, "Son can you forgive me?" Of course, I can, and if I do not have the courage for it at the time, I will make up for that personal failing with a lie to send them to their proper rest, and try to reconcile myself when my perspective is not so personally clouded.
The fact is that truth is much over-rated and lying is sometimes the kinder thing. Sometimes too it is an art we even admire. When I was a boy my father used to read me tall tales like Paul Bunyan and Casey Jones, and John Henry. And if I asked him if those things really happened, and he would reply "Son, if you cannot add a little luster to a story before you pass it along to the next listenter, you are not doing your job as a storyteller."
The long and the short of it is, truth is generally what we hope for, and in some what we expect. In others it seems a bit more optional, but I don't give them "the look" every time they open their mouths. There is a place in this world for a great many things. Loosen up and try not to to be so judgmental.

nope!
cant trust them
that happened to me once :
my 'friend' cheated off a test paper in one of my core classes and when the teacher caught her she acused me and said she was changing her answers cause she regonized a few mistakes, stating it to my face...And the teacher believed her she is
" A Good Girl " in the teachers eyes
People have to earn my trust back...at it's not going to in a 5 minute period like some people...
But I'm not going to lie either...I have lied alot before.Everyone has at a certain point..
It's the first thing many people can think of to get out of a sticky situation...

Once some lies to me I can tell when they're lying or not. (It's a gift I have). I just tell them that that truth is important in a relationship.

Everybody lies, I only look at somebody different if they lie so much that you can't seperate what's real and what's not.

sometimes it depends on what they lied about. i had a friend who would just lie about the simplest things. it got to the point where wouldn't believe her if she told me the time.
