DO NOT GO IN A HOT TUB!!!
There are two huge reasons -
1. A really hot bath will raise your temperature significantly. While you may seem to cool down quickly after getting out, your core temperature will stay high for quite a while, and that can cause brain damage to your baby.
2. Hot tubs have a lot of bacteria, and especially once you start dilating, you can get infections that can really hurt the baby.
Warm baths may be OK, but for back pain, I would try stretching, using a body pillow, and getting someone to give you a back rub.
Good luck!!!

http://www.americanpregnancy.org/pregnancyhealth/hottubs.htm
Here's a link by the American Pregnancy Association for you to read. It answers your questions accurately and thoroughly, but briefly, here is a summary:
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) states that becoming overheated in a hot tub is not recommended during pregnancy. ACOG also recommends that pregnant women never let their core body temperature rise above 102.2º F.
Although the specific degree differs, both OTIS and ACOG attest to the concern related to hot tub use during pregnancy.
Hot tubs are often factory programmed to maintain a water temperature of approximately 104º F. It takes only 10-20 minutes in a hot tub to raise your body temperature to 102º F or higher. To maintain a steady temperature, water is circulated and re-circulated through the hot tub to pump out cold water and pump in hot water.
So, is a hot bath safer than using a hot tub?
A hot bath, which is not uncomfortable or scalding, is a safer way to relax. In a bath much of your upper body will remain out of the water, making you less likely to overheat. Additionally, the water in a bath begins to cool off, as opposed to a hot tub, further reducing any risk of overheating.
Think about this. If you had a temperature of 102 degrees (or more), wouldn't you be worried? It's the same thing as being sick with a fever even if it's artificially created by sitting in a hot tub.
I hope this helps you sort through the variety of answers. Congratulations on your upcoming birth and good luck.

You can take warm baths. It can be pretty warm, too. You need to avoid hot tubs and spas (usually about 150 degrees or more) and bath water that is so hot you have to "inch" yourself into it. The hot temperature can cause the baby distress.

a warm bath is fine but a hot tub is too hot. just listen to your doc because your baby is depending on you and when you have your baby then you can get in a hot tub all you want.

Because too much time in a hot tup raises your body temp... that is when it becomes harmful for the baby.. 10 minutes or so shouldn't be harmful.. it was also recommended to me to lower the temp on the hot tub.. to my body temp...

you can take a bath, but keep the temp under 100, which is cold to the verage person. The main idea is that raising your body temp, will raise the baby's body temp, therefore harming the baby.

I believe is not because of how you will react to it but because it could cause damage to the baby, you might feel good but the temperature might be too high for the fetus. Call your doctor and ask to make sure.
