my kids could placed to sit at 5 months..but they didnt get themselves to sitting until they were about 8 months old...sitting up is considered a parallel skill and is usually the start of crawling for most infants.

About 5 months, but some babies sit up a little earlier, and some a little later. Talk to your doctor if you are worried.

my daughter is 2 going on 3 and I still remember little things like this... she was a very unique infant. one who turned to sleep on her stomach virtually every night when she was only 1 month old. So it wasn't surprising to see her lift and turn her head at 1month and a half or sit up when she was only 5 months! Kids are amazing!

My son started sitting up around 5 months. I think it took him a month before he stopped falling over.
