I have a low wage income and need some help. Just started a new job, but my current residence is now evicted. I may have to move in with my parents for a few months and I'm dreading it :(

It's gonna take a few months to save up some $$. But I would like a studio for around $400/month.

You have a few options for a nice place on a budget. If it is legal where you're from, try to find a basement apartment - you save on water, and utility bills, and typically you get to live in nicer neighborhoods than the ones where you find huge apartment buildings. Also, you can get a few friends together and all share the rent of a house, townhouse, or condo. You would have to pay for utilities in this option, but you can split it amongst your roomates.

The last option would be subsidized housing. If you really can't find anything else, and you are becoming a drain on your parents finances, then this would be the last resort. Depending on where you are, this option could be better left as a last resort due to some of the types of problems you may find in some of these places.

If your parents don't mind you staying, I would suggest you take advantage of the opportunity to save money, but also upgrade your skills so that you can eventually earn more, and have a better footing when you re-enter the world on your own. It's hard to take classes and prepare for/improve the future when you are trying to keep up with today's rent and food bills! Take care of this now while you still can.

Good luck, I hope I have been of help to you.
