Totally! they think they own the road. Are rude, drive aggressively, tailgate and make it unpleasant for everyone else. What are they trying to prove? they're the ultimate in road hogs

are 4x4's poser cars in rural areas??
we drive a Honda CR-V which is a SUV and not a 4x4 but most people call it that. it can be 4x4 but is normal front wheel drive.
we're not making a statement we only want to use 1 vehicle and often have to carry a lot and
where we live is 1/2 mile down a muddy track of a bumpy single lane road.
we're not making a statement we're just driving the only vehicle we can afford that suits its purpose.
ps we don't have kids are not rich are not having a mid life crisis and actually have a extremely large penis as does my boyfriend :-)
Personally we think htt biggest posers are the drivers of Fiat Punto's, Ford Ka's, and Peugeot 205 who drive like they are in the Grand Prix with their radio at 100% volume and that's men and women. They seem to drive straight for you using their vehicle like a battering ram!
we had on overtake us down our lane (we were doing 40) at 60, 10 seconds later they ran into the side of one of our neighbours

Of course they are. They're like the Harry Enfield characters where they say "We are considerably more richer than you".
I think there a bunch of posers who don't care about the safety of children or the environment.
The one that annoys me most is the couple that have 1 kid and immediatley go out and buy a 4x4....why? I have two kids & dont need one of those. As for the other makes you mentions, they just think they own the roads, and minions like us should let them past regardless of them being on their mobile phones, driving too fast, in the bus lane or just dangerously.
Plese do not think I'm envious at all. If I could drive all I want is a Citroen 2CV....;-0
OOOOhhhhhhhh, you've touched a nerve there mate!!!

No, not always. I drive an executive saloon with a big engine (by UK standards) - and prefer the comfort of a big, well made 'Germanic' car.
I'd not be seen dead in a knackerd Fiesta anymore for my personal vehicle, just a noisy shopping trolley - I started off in them & worked my way up the size, power (& cost) scale because I wanted to enjoy my cars more. If I can afford to insure it, run it & it's all bought & paid for - so why not?
Drivers of small, cheap cars are often less confident and are often intimidated by larger / powerful cars approaching & overtaking them "MANIACS!" - where drivers of those big, luxury or 200+BHP cars think "Outda my way!"
In short - 'poser' cars are driven by those that enjoy the whole driving experience - not just a means of travel.

Possibly, but let's face it who wouldn't want to drive a fast comfy car. I'm going convertible shopping to make the most of the sunshine :D
My only query: why is it that the more expensive the car, the worse the driving??? Do all the safety features make actual attention to the road unnecessary?

Not really. If you had the money and could afford it, wouldn't you want to have a nice car too. Sounds like jealousy and envy to me. lol Do you think the same thing of someone who can afford a large house rather than just an apartment or has a real swimming pool instead of going to a gym to use one? What's the difference?

I have a Porsche. Sometimes it's just nice to drive around in a nice car. And who doesn't like looking at nice cars ?

Some are, others like -- and can afford -- a truly premium automobile. While the rest of use continue to drive ancient relics until we can afford better.

I guess some of them possibly are but the "quality" cars are very VERY nice to drive. I think the biggest statement comes from your question......that you can't afford one. :-)
