You don't start trying after your period. You try to conceive before you ovulate.

A woman ovulates about 2 weeks (typically 12-16 days) before her *next* period. So, if you have a 35 day cycle, you are likely to ovulate between days 19 and 23. If you have a 24 day cycle, you probably ovulate between days 8 and 12. There is no way to just count forward from your period.

And, if your period is 3 days long, then day 10 is a week later. If your period is 7 days long, then day 10 is only *3* days later. Again, it just doesn't work that way!!

Lastly, no matter *how* regular you are, this could be your first-ever irregular cycle. If you have 25 day cycles every single time, but this cycle is destined to be 45 days long, then you will ovulate 20 days later than you expect.

The only way to *know* when you are ovulating is to chart your fertility signs. Please read _Taking Charge of Your Fertility_ by Toni Weschler for details on how to do this. It is a great book, and it *will* help you get pregnant.

Do not bother with online ovulation calendars...they don't work *at all*. They only give you *average* information--they say nothing about when *you* ovulate. And ovulation predictor kits only work if you are *exceptionally* regular--cycle lengths within a day or two of each other. For other women, you either need to use 2-3 of them every cycle, or they're completely useless (unless you get lucky). And the information you get may or may not even be correct.

I hope this helps. Good luck!!

Usually people ovulate 10 days before and after each period.
If you really want a definite answer you can buy an ovulation monitor and it will tell you the precise moment when it will be easiest for you to conceive. There are tests that are more expensive that take your temperature and can be used over and over again. Also, individual tests that are less expensive but in the long run will be more expensive if you keep buying them one after another. They are like pregnancy tests except they measure your fertility. About the same cost as a pregnancy test also. Good Luck :)

Every woman is different but most women with a regular cycle will ovulate about 14 days after the first day of their period. You should be most fertile a few days before ovulation and a few days after. So I would say start trying like 2 or 3 days before you ovulate and to to 2 or 3 days after ovulation. Or you could buy an ovulation testing kit.

That depends largely on how long your cycle is. You probably ovulate about 12-16 days before your next period is due. You are also considered fertile in the 3 days or so leading up to ovulation because the man's sperm can live inside your reproductive tract waiting for the egg to be released.

After your period you usually have about 5 or 6 dry days, then you have about 5 or 6 days when you feel "wet." The mucus (sticky wet stuff) is the sign that you are in your "fertile" days. The very last sticky day is actually your most fertile day. You can't tell what day that is at first, but if you track your cycle for a couple of months, you can usually predict when that day will be. So when you feel wet and sticky--go for it.

For more infomation look for the book "Love and Fertility" by Mercedes Arzu Wilson. I found it on line.

Fertility Doc's will often tell you to ttc (try to conceive) every 2-3 days (at least) for the entire month. Because you can ovulate at any time and the ovulation tests are often incorrect, it is important to try Daily or at least every 3 days during an entire month.

Warning: Sex becomes more of a chore than fun when you do it that much and for each month that goes by w/o conception, it becomes harder and harder on both of you. Try to make it interesting and switch off who gets to have "fun" so that it stays fun for you both.

Also, keep in mind that God will weave that baby in your womb when it's time so be patient! Often, women who have been on b.c for a long time have to be off for several months before their body responds (not always) and the hormones level out enough to become pregnant. It took us 3 months, and one of my counselors at the Pregnancy Center said it took her 15 years- I hope it doesn't take that long for you! Good Luck and I'll be praying for you! God Bless!

When you are feeling upset b/c you're not pregnant yet, read about Sarah and Hannah in the Bible.

Sara's story is in Genesis Chapters 11-25, Sarah wanted children so badly that she told her husband Abraham to sleep with her servent- this is where the Christian vs. Muslem issues come from believe it or not- anyway, she was finally given a son, Issac when she was 99 years old!

Hannah's is in 1 Samuel 1:9-2:11 Hannah prayed and cried for God to giver her children, but she was baren. She promise God to give up her first born to Him and gave birth to Samuel, who spoke to God and became Isreals greatest Judge, she also was given 3 more sons and 2 daughters!

Just do it about every other day from the end of your period for a few weeks and you should catch it. if not then try an ovulation predictor kit. you can buy them with the pregnancy tests in the grocery store or pharmacy. there are also online programs that can tell you the best time to concieve.
