No, it costs points. It takes 5 points off for asking a question and gives you 2 points for answering a question. If you answer is selected best answer you receive an extra 10 points.

If you have posted your question without paying any penny, it means that you do not have to pay for this service.
Otherwise, time is money. So if you're spending your time to use this service, you're somehow losing money.
