Due on Sept. 17th, and feeling excited but SO overwhelmed and scared about all the details that caring for a baby will bring. I was the one that asked the question about washing the baby's clothing first, and got SO many great replies from that...and also learned so much by reading the questions and answers from others. So I just wanted to say THANK YOU, and let you know what a comfort it is to know this site is here, and all the great help you all are willing to provide from your own experiences!

It's nice to hear from the people that benefit from whatever "pearls of wisdom" we have to give!

I'm sure you'll do fine. Being a mom is a learning experience from the get-go. Nobody starts out knowing everything, no matter how much advice they get or how many books they read. Good old-fashioned experience is the best thing. I'm sure you'll do fine!! Just get lots of sleep before the big day!!

I'm with ya! I am due in 2 weeks and have NO idea about being a mother! It is really overwhelming, that's for sure! I have also learned some great things on this site. And everyone has been telling me that as soon as that little baby is in your arms, a sort of instinct will kick in! Congratulations! :)

One of the most important things a mom can do with a new baby is....relax. If you get upset, the baby will too. When you have done all for the baby you can do, and it is still fretting, walk away for a few minutes.

Read lots of books. No one has ever truly loved a child to death. So loving the baby will get you thru the tough spots.

It is so nice to see someone say thank you for the advice. I was scared just like you are and I thought I was going to do something wrong when my daughter was born but she is 5 months now and everything is coming natural to me and it will to you to. If I have questions I will sometimes go to Babycenter.com and Gerber.com. You can also sign up with newsletters from pampers, huggies, beechnut, WelcomeAddition(simliac) and enfamil. Plus they send you out samples and coupons.

I don't see a question here, but congratulations and best of luck with your new baby. Most of the time you will just have the mother instinct about your baby.

Best of luck to you and your new baby.

Parenting is definitely a challenge. It offers one challenge after the other.

I have 4 children...we learn from experience.

Congrats...and a book that I highly recommend is:

The Baby Book
by Dr William Sears

I was absolutely clueless when I had my daughter...and I read this book while I was pregnant, and constantly referred to it as she grew. It really helped me to create a parenting strategy for her..and allayed my fears.

Good Luck!
