I'm almost 10wks. post partum, got my first period 2wks ago and started my b.c. pills(yasmin), and I'm STILL bleeding. My doc's gonna call me in some Provera to stop it, but he didn't explain why I would do this. And how does Provera help?

Provera is most often used to synchronize the hormonal cycle, which would be why he is recommending it. But if he isn't also considering some kind of malfunction or pathology--seek a second opinion. Extended bleeding is not something to ignore, particularly if you're on bc's.

It could be breakthrough bleeding from the birth control.

OR it could be a sign that you are physically overdoing it too soon after having a baby.

Talk to your caregiver and get more details of why he thinks you are bleeding.

Also...how heavy is it? What color? Does it look like "old blood" or fresh bright red blood or pink or what? Is there any odor to it?
