So if you die at the age of 100, you actually only lived about 60 years!

I've always wished I could pause time. Then I could sleep as much as needed and not miss out on anything.

Jeez, it must be nice to be you. I only get 6 hours of sleep a night. Most people only sleep 8 hours a night. But by your math you sleep 9.6 hours per night (sleeping 40 years of your life leaving only 60 years).

Let's work on your basic math skills:

1 day has 24 hours x 7 (days in a week) = 168 hours per week.
168 hours time 52 (weeks in year) = 8,736 hours per year.
100 years = 873,600 hours
Sleeping 8 hours a day is 1/3 of your day (not even close to 1/2).
1/3 of 100 = 33.3 years sleeping leaving 66.7 years awake

Now keep in mind that just because you were sleeping doesn't mean you were dead. In reality, at age 100, you will have lived for 100 years.

Go back to your first grade Math teacher and demand to be taught simple math.

Not half, but one third. :)

And, sleeping is very very important for the body, it is not a "waste". If you keep a person artificially awake for two weeks, the person dies or goes insane. There are very important health balancing and other bodily processes that happen during our sleep - we cannot skip them, otherwise we become complete neurotics and our health breaks down at high speed.
What's the problem?
I love sleeping - I dream a lot of nice things and next day I tell them to my friends.
For example:
"Heyyy, I was kissing you in my dream, the other day - what about making it real? Let's try, at least!"
:-)

I bet mine is less. I actually did not get out of my Jammies on saturday and wouldn't have on sunday except I had obligations. But before that I had had 6 weekends in a row that I didn't even bother to get up and get dressed. Just tootled around the house napped here napped there. I could use a nap right now.

Yeah. But sleeping feels sooo good. Try living the rest of your life without sleeping and see how happy you are by Day 2.

No it depends on how long you sleep and personally I love sleeping if you don't get sleep you look awful from being tired and not that much of your life is being wasted by sleeping 8hrs. at night unless you take naps during the day.

now honestly . What do you consider living to be ? how does sleep waste your life? is there something better that you could be doing ? you need to achieve something ? what for? your going to die anyway. you need to be the best at something ? or better than ? why? so you can live with your self ?

thats so Smart!! i never thought about that, but it is a very ... GOOD question. I guess depending on how long you sleep for, you are wasting about half of your life.
