No this is not a weird thing to do. I had to do this with my oldest daughter, because she has GE Reflux. Today they even make bottles for the purpose of feeding baby food to infants. I started feeding my 2nd child who is 1, baby food at 5 months along with breastfeeding. You still need to give them fromula, because all the nutrients they need aren't in the baby food. I stopped nursing at 9 months and put her on milk, but she didn't like it, so I give her dairy products to offset the milk.
Those that are yelling at you about this, apparently play by the doctors rule and can't be parents and do what you know is right for your child. Doctors are not always right.
**My doctor told me to mix baby food with milk (formula) or water to make it easier for the baby to swallow. Most moms add formula to baby cereal, it won't hurt the baby food or the baby.**

I would start them out on cereal first and get an infafeeder , made it a little thick and just let them get a little at a time cause they could get choked easily at that age. That will keep them full and happy for hours. Or they make a cloth thing that you put the baby food in and it has tiny holes they suck on and has a end like a passy.Doctors will tell you not to do this till later but my little guy stayied too hungry all the time and this keeped him full, I also know lots of people that started this same thing before doctors said it was time.

They probably still need their formula. Even when babies first start solid foods, they still rely on formula or breast milk for most of their nutrition. Maybe in a month or two you can try a spoon again and see how they take it. I think at first the whole point of starting babies on solids is to introduce them to the whole mealtime process and to use cereal to supplement their diet with iron.
Don't let anyone make you feel bad or feel like a bad mom. Sometimes you just have to get by with what works for you. I think it is hard to feed my baby every day and I only have one. I did try your idea once since my daughter hates her highchair, but it didn't work for me since my daughter is breastfed and won't take anything out of a bottle.

Babies need to be on formula until they are at least 1 year old. Formula has all the right nutrients that babies need to grow. I know it is expensive but try getting on WIC or getting food stamps. It's ok to give them baby food a couple times a day but I would definitely give it to them with a spoon. I know it can be messy but they need to learn to eat with a spoon.

Your babies should be on formula until they are 12 months old, then they start milk. At 5 months old they should be on jar food too...if it's too thin and falling off the spoon thicken it with rice cereal or oatmeal cereal.
Talk to you babies Dr. about how you are feeding them, it's not good to do what you're doing...I know you didn't want people to tell you that, but it's the truth, sorry.

Thats not a good thing to do. First of all, it's not good for them because they need formula. Second, why would you do that to your baby? Baby food already tastes horrible enough, why would you make it taste even worse by diluting it in water? That has to be disgusting. Yes, formula could get expensive for twins but you have to think about them. They need it and because they need it you should buy it--no matter how much it costs.

My son, who is almost 1 years old refuses to eat babyfood. He will literally throw it up or push my hand away. In other words it becomes a tremendous hassle. So I put some cereal, formula and half of the baby food in the bottle and he gulps it up. But I know I will have to stop soon because he has to learn. But the formula lasts me longer. You're not the only one!!

formula is very expensive, but don't you get WIC? that helps out a lot. They give you formula and baby food and as your child grows they will give you cereal, cheese, baby food, milk & juice.
As for feeding them baby food in the bottle - it is a little odd. Just be careful that it doesn't upset their stomachs. they should still be drinking formula. But if it works for you and them - then go for it.

I am not a mom but I have 4 2 twin cousins and twin nieces. I know for a fact that mixing their food with water or formula is unsafe...any pediatrician would agree with me on this one. Any one can tell that it's not safe for the babies!

They suggest not doing that. Children as babies need to learn to eat from a spoon. Babies are little sponges they take in everything. They need to learn to feed themselves eventually. You are their teacher. Children copy what you do. In a few months they are going to want to feed themselves. I could only imagine how tired you must be. It takes a a few good experiences with a spoon but they catch on quick.
