Generally speaking, they are bad news. They cut a hole in your roof and install a weather seal around the edge. The quality of the installation has one big variable. The guy who is doing the work. If you are the lucky person to get an idiot who is cutting your car up and ripping out the headliner, you will end up with a mess. I would find a shop, ask for referrals and check out the quality of their work. Just be a little paranoid.

I wouldn't do it because it will always leak no matter how much money you invest. My friend owns a custom body shop and says that when a car is built at the factory they install special tracks in the roof and through out the body that move the water out of the car. And that when people try to install sunroofs there is no way for the water to go anywhere and they will leak. Also I had a car with an after market sunroof and it always leaked

its not uncommon for factory sunroof leaks either. If you really need one, I would go to you dealer and see if they can do it (It will cost alot more) but they will have available to proper kits for installation in your particular vehicle. If you get it done at a body shop, the user before me was right they just cut a hole in your roof and try and make a seal using adhesives and generic tracks.

It will be directly proportional to how much you want to pay. You are going to pay for a good quality job. A cheap job is just that, cheap.
