Facing error converting VB 6 (.vbp) for Visual Basic 2005? so am I?

... What does it mean when VB 2005 tells me it's license has expired?

It gives me an error message when I try to use the Visual Basic Upgrade wizard for an old VB6 (.vbp):

error: exception occured: the referenced component VtChart is missing a design time license.

What is this? What can I do to resolve this?

The computer you are on - does it have a design time licence for this VtChart control?

A few years ago, purchased ActiveX and COM controls was a big industry. Entire companies were built that did nothing more than provide onscreeen widgets and user interface controls for use in Rapid Design environments such as Visual Basic. You bought a license to use a control like this in your VB environment, and in turn, the company in question granted you a nearly unlimited right to redistribute the .dll or .ocx files that made their control work. To prevent non-paying end-users from getting their controls for free, you got a license file (often *.lic) which was not distributed to end users - the controls can't be used in a VB type of environment without them.

It looks like your program is a consumer of such a control. Is this the machine where the VB6 environment used to run? If not, then you will have to install the VtChart developer component on this computer where you are doing the code conversion, using the tool vendor's installation executable.
