I don't find fat particularly attractive, I would let him know that he is starting to get over weight and encourage him to go to the gym for health reasons.

I'm the significant other that gained a lot of weight. It bothers me all the time. I feel poorly about myself and honestly that is the only thing in my life that I'm sad about. I have an awesome husband that loves me no matter what. I'm thankful for that because I don't know what I would do if he left me. It sucks because sometimes your motabolism changes and you don't know what to do. Everything you once knew about eating is now bad for you and makes you gain weight. It's a sad place to be in.

Encourage them to live healthier. Let them know that you love them and want them to be around for a long, long time, and the weight they're carrying around is going to shorten their lifespan and your time together.
Help them to eat healthier and spend time exercising together. Walk in the evenings, or join a fitness place (the Y for example).
Or talk to them and find out if there's something going on. Depression can manifest in overeating and weight gain. Find out if they're upset, bored, depressed, unhappy, etc. Help them to change their lives for the BETTER!
But no matter what you do, NEVER sit there in judgment or tell them things like, "You make me sick!" or "What is wrong with you?!" This only undermines their self-esteem and makes their overeating worse in most cases.

Mine gained weight from steriod use due to health problems. Why do you think they ask you..."in sickness and in health, for better and for worse, etc" Your vows mean you will stay together no matter what.

If you truly love them it wont matter. But if it really bothers you mention it as a heath issue not a weight issue so they wont be offened. Lots of luck!!
