No. It is a function of poor parenting. I have three children (2 girls). They don't have jobs or their own place, so my wife and I decide what clothing will be purchased and what they are allowed to wear (the same goes for my son).

Hip-Hop did not create drugs, drive-bys, or ignorance. All of these existed in America before hip-hop. Some hip-hop is in poor taste, but poor taste never hurt anyone.

No one is doing drive-bys with cd's. No one is snorting mix tapes. Listening to hip hop does not lower your IQ. I'm not too sure of the fashion element being hip hop alone.

If you got to major, national department stores, it is difficult to find clothes for little girls that aren't too "adult" for lack of a better term. Has hip hop taken over Sears, American Eagle, Abercrombie, Kids R US? I think its more than hip hop offering our children "mature" wear. The fact that heels and platforms come in sizes that fit 1st graders says plenty.

There are problems with our culture (American), but rarely is entertainment the catalyst. It is often a step behind.

No it not the hiphop that is destroying our culture it is the lack of family values. The things you mentioned are just a by-product. Where are the parents of the ten year old? Where is real police enforcement on drugs or drive-bys? Yes some of the hiphop music is disrespectful but so are a lot of other things.

It's not destroying it any more than rock & roll did in the 50's and '60's. People were wearing that slutty stuff before, and they will continue to wear it. Don't blame all that stuff on hip hop. Blame it on the parents. (Drugs have been around a lot longer than hip hop). You are just ignorant.

Hip hop is a way of life. You mean Gangster Rap Music, mild and extreme! Yes, of course it is..These rapper's sing about negativity and degrade their women and culture by producing video's that emulate what they want you and the whole world to see.

A large majority of rapper's that are well over 35 years old are pretty much, immature, uneducated, and have a kindergarden IQ.What makes it so bad is that, they are portraying a negative image of not only themselves, but their "Culture", so when people view them on their videos, they make negative assumptions about them. (can you blame them)?

People are not being racist by doing this, the rappers are setting a negative example. It is not cute for young toddlers and children to use profanity, and dress like adults.

You would think, with all the money these rappers make, they would enroll themselves into a English Program to first develop the basics of speaking correctly, then later enrolling into a college to have something to fall back on. (NOT)!

But some rappers find it cute to speak ignorantly and think they have something to prove by being cool..It's so played out and tired! They need to grow up and accept the fact that they are aging adults, and stop trying to go backwards in life, they are not teenagers anymore, they need to grow up.

I quess they are all just stuck on (STUPID)!!

Hip Hop has changed through the years. Back in the days, Hip Hop used to be about the music and being creative with smooth lyrics. Now...there is no ORIGINALITY. I am ole skool to the soul. The ole cats like "De La Soul", Slum Village, and MC Lyte. Now...I do not even consider the music now hip hop. I call it Rap. Hip Hop is art, Rap is a little the opposite. My advice to you is to do research on Hip Hop culture and Rap. Try to distinguish the difference.

Hip-hop didn't start any of that. In the begining I will admit it wasn't as explict as it is now. Before it wasnt like today where to many things r said bluntly. Its people that chose the way they want to live their lives. Just be sure that u don't live your life that way. Hip-hop is not the cause of what u c. Their is good hip-hop and rap. In case u havent notice its not just hip-hop, theres rock, country, bluegrass, blues, jazz, R&B, and many more. If hip-hop is as bad as u say it is than all these others r just as bad because then u would be saying that music is bad. Music is life. Thats why I say that the girls that u were talking about; they chose to live their life that way.

Let it be man, let the hip-hop culture live!!! Just like hip-hop/Rap culture has an affect on people, the rock culture has an affect on most others as well. For example those who listen to death metal, they have all these weird piercings and tattoos' and dyed hair and weird hair styles and their little skate boards and other stuff. and what about punk music and the affect it has on little girls??? Let the hip-hop culture in peace and stop judging our f***'n ghetto a** music!!!

i think rap music is especially damaging for the black race in america. After everything accomplished by the civil rights movement this whole rap culture is destroying it.All it does is make blacks look like rediculous hoodlums who are no more intelligent than a gorilla. i mean how could you make an entire record about how much you paid for a necklace?why not spend your money on helping your impovershed community you came from?instead of stupid vehicles that make you look like a fool?

Historically, many types of music have been blamed for the deterioration of society (e.g. Rock 7 Roll, Disco, etc.) While I do not care for this particular genre, I don't believe it is to blame for what ails our society. I believe it is just a symptom of the problem.
