I have a black leather coach purse and I accidently got white latex interior paint on it. I went to answer my phone and forgot I had some paint on my hands. I wanted to know if anyone knew how to remove it without ruining the purse.

I found this tip on eHow.com from a user there on their "How to Treat Stains On Leather" page:

"If you have a stain on leather, you can actually use an SOS Brillo pad and gently rub the spot. That will usually remove any stain. Then use mineral oil as a protectant and it will it to give it a true shine. We do restoration and remediation, trust me, it works."

Hope this helps.

If it will not peel or rub off, then try rubber cement thinner (not the cement itself, but the thinner!). You can get some at an art supply store. Test it on a small, inconspicuous area first, in case the thinner takes off any of the dye in the leather. Use a cotton swab.

But the best advice I can give you is to go to a professional leather cleaner to have it treated. They will know what can and can't be done to the purse.

If you're very lucky, the paint might not have stuck all that well. Try putting duct tape on it and pulling it off. The duct tape might pull the paint off. Also try bending the leather to loosen the paint.

It might not work but it won't hurt and it won't cost much. Next I would try "goof off" and apply it with a Q Tip to make sure you use the minimum amount. Use that stuff outside; it stinks.
