Maybe the obvious, "because jewish companies and organizations wield alot of power in the U.S." is that all? do we really believe the are the chosen people of the old testament. it puzzles me that the fundamentalist christian right seem to support them to such a degree when Jesus died to expand good new to gentiles and all people. Is it because we feel bad about the holocaust? no other population (black american slavery, bosnia, sudan) generates this type of long ranging support despite suffering terrible wrongs. this is an actual question - i am not trying to dispense a viewpoint. It just seems like sometimes israel is the spoiled rich kid whose parents back them up no matter what they do - and they know it so they push the limits of good behavior knowing that daddy will get them out of trouble. what is it that creates the strong alliance between US and Israel.

Thanks LakotaBob. The Native American attempted genocide should be added to this list of suffering people.

In 1948, United Nations Resolution 181 gave birth to modern Israel, promptly followed by the Arab-Israeli War of 1948. Why the fighting? Thirty-three nations from around the world voted to take Palestinian territory and give it away. The Eisenhower Doctrine of 1957 glued the United States to the conflict in the Middle East. Since then Israel has, funded by the United States and some European countries, conquered 78% of the disputed land in question. When considering the plethera of history, I would conclude that the United States acts this way because Israel is A> White B> Rich C> Not Muslim.

I think the problem with the current administration at least is that they are incapable of comprehending the nuances and complexities of the situation and tend to see everything in black and white. Bush once again provided evidence of his naive, simplistic, polaristic thinking in his now infamous chat with Tony Blair (the one in which he uttered that four letter word) when he summed up the whole situation by saying that it would all be over if only Syria would tell Hezbollah to give back the two Israeli soldiers. Really, ya think? It's like saying, "Hey, crime would stop if only the criminals would stop commiting crimes!"

A man who is incapable of understanding anything than the most obvious levels of a problem cannot imagine, much less construct, a more complex, integrated solution involving negotiation on all sides. To Bush, Israel is the good guy and Syrian-backed Hezbollah is the bad guy and Sherrif Bush just has to stand by and let Israel shoot at Hezbollah (and at all the innocent civilians who stand in the way) until somebody goes down.

In other words, Bush backs every move Israel makes, regardless of the method or the consequences, because he's retarded.

Before you go further, ask yourself why is Europe strongly behind Israel in this latest conflict? Europe throughout the last 3 decades and been more pro-Arab then pro-Israel.

Could it possibly be that Countries, even Russia, believe that Israel had made great strides at peace in Lebanon and with Hezbollah over the last 5 years, only to have it ruined by a terrorist group that appears to have succeeded in gaining control of a weak government?

When will the Arab world come to the realization that terrorism does not solve problems and that more can be accomplished through diplomacy than hate?

Native Americans got NO support!

But when Armageddon begins, who is everyone going to run to, to survive without technology when the lights go out? Native Americans and the Amish.

When this country acknowledges the masacre and genocide of the indigenous people of the Americas, and owns up to the promises and treaties, I will give consideration to the Holocaust.

Uhhhhhh... The country is surrounded by racists that have a goal to eliminate each and every person in your country. It contantly sends over suicide bombers. They teach their children to hate every jew. The head of Iran openly states that its goal is to erradicate the entire "Zionist people". It sends over rockets on an average of 80 per month (Hezbollah had been doing that for months before Israel retalliated).

They are being threatened by mass genocide. How many of you honestly think if all these arab/muslim countries just left Israel alone, Israel would even lift a finger and waste a single bullet? That's right, Israel is only defending itself. It's defending itself from its right to live. It's defending itself from mass genocide!

This is not about Christianity. This is about right and wrong.

If boggles my mind how anyone can defend Terrorists, unless you're one of them yourself.

Coming from a Christian perspective (honestly if you would read a Bible you will see it too) I am completely happy that the US has an alliance with Israel. I pray daily for those who do not. Any country who chooses to go against God's chosen people is choosing a path I would not recommend.

Money, power, oil, votes, religion.

35000 children starve to death EVERY day, that's almost 13 MILLION per year. Add to this the adults and we're talking over 20 Million a year.

Don't start to compare "terrible wrongs" when the worst wrong is not even mentioned. And we could do something about it - guilting us into supporting any Israeli position, even when we're talking about state-santioned terrorism, will not bring back any holocaust or other genocide victims.

Israel was attacked, so I don't see that their retaliation was out of order. Israel is our Allies, why would we not back them?

What have you against the Israelis that you feel they don't deserve a peaceful existence? They took a deserted swamp land that was not being used and turned into a thriving community. I think that is pretty remarkable. What have the Palestinians done. ......nadda....They have chosen terrorism as their mantra. Doesn't look to me folks, that its working too well for them.

How easily you forget. Isreal has been pounded for 58 years by islam, and other demons. They stand up and fight back everynow and then and the whole world's worldly go berserk, becuase it scares them to think of the FACT that this may just be the big one where The Holy Lord God stands with them and wipes out every rebellious sinner, every terrorist murderer, every pushy dirtbag that wants land they didn't buy, every punk that wants to kill them at every oppurtunity, every little piggy that ever spat upon the blood of Christ, and sets up his Kingdom where freebies and sin and rebellion and hate are not allowed..Where the Son Of God is King of Kings and every knee bows and every tougue confesses that Jesus Christ is Lord........
