I dont understand................?

Question

How was someone able to access my bank account,by just using my account NUMBER?Didnt the need proof of the account holder,etc my SSN also or some kind of proof,etc?I dont understand how it is so easy for some one to do that just getting my account number.SOMEONE EXPLAIN THAT TO ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
