The teenage son wants to stay with them for the school year. He is 14 years old, his mom lives in N. Carolina. When he is in North Carolina, he lives with his stepdad who is separated from his mom. He sees his mom on weekends.
We are in California, how can my friend get a temporary order so he doesn't have to return before the hearing? How can they get a hearing? Are they going to have to pay for a lawyer? He has been here 4 weeks, and Mom agreed to a visitation even though it was not in the court order. He will be here 6 weeks in August before he leaves.
Your help is much appreciated! Thank you.

you would have to talk to a lawyer to find out all the details. Living in the states I don't know if you would get 15 mins to 30 mins consultations in Canada you get that free you'd have to check on it. Good luck

this can be a controversy for a criminal professional to workout consultation, you honestly desire a pro and under no circumstances a collection of amateurs. in case your pal would not go back the youngster to North Carolina there is severe criminal implications and expenses, may he rather sit down in reformatory or pay some hundred $$$ for some good criminal suggestion? the youngster is over the age of 12 and in some states that is the right age to have some enter on which be certain they stay with. even if California and North Carolina are 2 of those states.....that is for a criminal professional to parent out.

In Texas at that age he can decide which parent he lives with. Have them contact an attorney in Cali. to find out his rights keep him and do not send him back and make the mother fly to cali for court.
