when do you think it is ok for my fourteen yr old to use tampax?

i started using them when I was 13, if she wants to use them, let her, they aren't as messy and last longer, I use the Playtex Gentle Guild. if you don't want to have to explain it to her, I sugest getin her the following books, they helpe dme a lot when I went into puberty:
1) The What's Happening to My Body Book For Girls by Lynda Madaras,
2)The Period Book, Everything You Don't Want to Ask but Need to Know by karen Gravelle and Jennifer Gravelle,
3) Growing up It's a Girl Thing, by Mavis Jukes,
4) The Care & Keeping of YOU, the Body Book for Girls, by the AmericanGirl Library

Yes i think that it is perfectly fine if:
She has had more than 3-4 periods
Is comfortable with her body
Understands the risks
Is physicly and mentaly mature
Will not use them at night
You and her have talked over the pro's and con's of this and have came to a disition together.
If all of abouve is considered than i say it is perfectly fine. Some people start their children out using tampons in stead of pads at like 8 or 9 witch i can not believe i think that you are a very responable parent for not rushing into this because most people think that this isn't a big deal,i do. Also maybe a new purse for her might be nice to :)
I suggest not using a tampon for the first 3 periods,for anything but blood,for more than 4-6 hours or at night.

Don't let your 14 year old use Tampax. She is much to young to use them yet. She could get an infection. Tell her to wait till she's at least 16. Have her use the kotex pads for now.

It's not her age that would determine when.
It's more when she's comfortable using them.
When she's had her period for a couple months (2 -3) and knows her cycle. I would say this is the best time.
If she's gonna use tampons, I would use OB
They have no applicator so she would have to be comfortable with her own body.
I find them to work the best.
I have NEVER had 1 leak while using OB
They're easier to hide
And I find them to be much more comfortable to insert
And much more comfortable once inserted

That question is best answered by your daughter. When ever she is ready and comfortable wearing them. Just buy a box for her and read the directions with her so she understands the use and risks. Then she can try them.

Whenever she starts menstruating. Start her out with junior size tampons. And she might prefer a tampon without that awful plastic applicator, so try O.B.

Make sure she knows to change them frequently (and explain how often that is) and that she shouldn't sleep wearing one. Change to pads at night.

as long as she's told how to properly insert, take out, and replace them, any age will be fine. for younger girls though, i'd start out with the tampax pearl. they're smaller and easier to insert.

As long as she is responsible enough to change it regularly then I would let her use it when she is comfortable with it. I began using one at 14, on my first cycle, and I didn't experience any problems.

When you're able to read the brochure that comes with them, understand -- and more importantly FOLLOW -- the instructions, and when you're mature enough to understand all that goes on with using a tampon. Till then, it's pads.
