open the email,
hit show full headers
find all th IP's in the header.. they have a format
[xx.xx.xx.xx]
copy that and paste it in this page where it says enter IP
http://www.geobytes.com/IpLocator.htm?GetLocation

that will give you the nearest location area from where the email was sent ...

till here is what you can get. think of any known friends/ppl in that area..thay should have sent it.

after which you need to get the address from the internet service provider [ISP] matching the IP, which would be a cops job.

it is not foolproof, but gets you closest.

Yes. Selecting a message's detailed headers will display the originating IP address and hostname of the message. You can then use a visual trace service like http://visualroute.visualware.com/
to see in what geographic area the server is located. Remember, though, that email can be sent from a server far removed from the actual person who sent it, and in many cases these people use proxies to further hide the origin of their spam.

Cheers,

Andy

You can always trace the e-mail path by seeing the server that it came from.
