1 mile = 5280 feet
5280 feet = 63360 inches
63360 inches = 160934.4 centimeters
160934.4 centimeters = 1.609344 kilometers
1 mile = 1.609344 km
1 sq mi = 2.589988110336 sq km
800 sq km = 800 / 2.589988110336 sq mi = 308.88 sq mi

I guess we'll have to treat this as a hypothetical question, as the asker said: "The area of Lima, Peru is 800km squared."
800 km SQUARED is 640,000 square kilometers, so the correct answer to the question (though not the actual area of Lima) is:
247105.381467 square miles.
Hmmmmm - guess that's not correct, either, since the question was: "What is the area in miles?", which makes no sense, as miles are units of distance, not of area. Whatever.

To work it out, we've got to start somewhere. There are 5280 feet/mile, and 1760 yards/mile. I remember that there are 39.37 inches in a meter, so one meter equals 39.37/36 = 1.0936111... yards/m.
A kilometer is a thousand meters, or 1093.6111... yards/km. Divide that by 1760 yards/mile, and we get 0.62137 miles/km.
Now square that to get 0.3861 square miles per square kilometer. Finally, multiply by your 800 square km. to get 308.88 square miles.
That's not the best answer, though. Most certainly, that 800 sq. km. is rounded off. They might mean it's between 795 and 805, but more likely they mean greater than 750 but less than 850; that is, they rounded off to the nearest hundred.
We should do the same thing. The best answer is that Lima's area is 300 square miles.

Area of Lima = 800 km squared
1 km = 0.6 mile
Hence 800 km squared = 800 x 0.6 x 0.6 = 288 miles squared
