Peterson has the higher cieling as a running back. He's 6'2", 218 lbs, with good speed and power. As a true freshman, he was a Heisman finalist. Last years down year was due to many factors, including injury, new QB, new Line, and new WRs. He has a lot of the same abilities that made OJ Simpson, Eric Dickerson, and Jim Brown some of the greatest RBs ever.
Bush is the better athlete, but if I was looking for a back, I'd take Peterson, who can do everything(he can catch good enough, don't need a wr need a back). Big, fast, and great vision. You'll keep him in on 4 and 2 with the game on the line cause he'll still be your best option. Not always true with Bush.

Oklahoma and USC were both National Championship quality teams with these backs, so it is crazy to think that being on USC plays any factor in how Reggie Bush is categoirzed as a player. Peterson was a Heisman Trophy candidate as a freshman which clearly shows that his school has nothing to do with how he is percieved as a player. Quite simply, Reggie Bush is just a far better player, which the Saints proved when they took him top-3. No NFL team is going to take a player that high because of the school he went to, and you can be assured that Peterson will not be drafted that high because he is not even close to same caliber of player that Reggie Bush is. Peterson was not even a top-5 running back in the country last year.
1) Reggie Bush
2) Brian Calhoun
3) Lawrence Maroney
4) DeAngelo Williams
5)LenDale White
Far better than Reggie Bush - are you crazy? The best part is I do not even like USC AND this is still a simple question to answer. NOw go give your ten points to someone that agrees with you.

I 100% agree with sseleman10 answer...... When Peterson was a freshman he finished second on the heisman. The highest ever by a freshman where as Reggie Bush finished 5th that year behind Jason White and Alex Smith. This past year Peterson strugged with injuries, new line, qb, and wr's. For one minute imagine if Bush had gone through that kind of change Peterson went through. No Leinhart, 4 new starters on the O-line, No Dwayne Jarret or Steve Smith. and lets throw this in for fun...no Lendale White to share the load with. If all that had happened to Bush he wouldn't have had near as much sucess as he did. I think they are both great athletes but if I had to choose I would go with Peterson. I'll just say this Bush is lucky to have gone to the Saints where they have Deuce to split the carries with. Bush can't last in the league if he has to be a featured back.

I say reggie is better because he has such a rare tallent
he is like a perfect cross between a WR and a RB
you can already tell that he probably runs routes and catches better than most other backs in the NFL
plus he can return kicks
you can't compare him with any player
cuz he does things that u never seen before
as for peterson yes he could be just as good maybe even better
it just doesn't seem so because
he is resembles a lot of other RBs
and he can't catch as well as bush
and u can't say hes better than bush just cuz his team is better that would be like saying Ben Rothlisbburger is better than Payton Manning
P.S. The texans suck (I'm sorry everytime I think of him I remember them)

though i don't have as much as answerman...i think that reggie bush is a far better athelite then adrian peterson. peterson has the ability to run people over...but bush...he just plain makes people miss...i would have to give the edge to bush just on pure athletisism...

Adrian Peterson will have the better initial success. Long term, I don't think either of them will last long.

that's a tough call. i would say Peterson, but he's had too many injuries in a short college career for me to say he is better. Because Bush won the Heismann, I'll have to say him.
