I was cleaning out some boxes the other day and I came across some of my old high school homework and tests. Reading through it, I realized that I forgot most of that info. grammar, mathematics, all gone. I graduated with a 3.7gpa only 6 years ago and now I am pretty sure I would fail 7th grade! Do we get more stupid as time goes by or is this just a case of "use it or lose it"?

I think it's a use it or lose it. I was attempting to help my cousin with her homework one day and couldn't remember the math problems to save my life. Thank goodness we have computers and calculators to do these things for us as we get older.

No, we graduated from High School and have no one to "go over" everything we have already learned like we did when entering 7th grade, 8th grade etc. Just because someone can't remember how to divide fractions does not make them "stupider". If you HAD to I am sure you could figure it out.

When I read the question I laughed because I remembered......

When my son was 11 (like most) he thought he knew everything, one day he was telling me something, I can't even remember what it was now, something about the Cows at the fair we had just left, I said he was a bit confused about whatever it was (I think the difference between a cow and a heifer) he kept on arguing he was right. In the car I said "that's right, you are 11 and at this point in life you know everything their is to know, and from now on you are going to get stupider and stupider till eventually you are as dumb as I am." When we got home we did a little research and I was right.

Men peak mentally at...50.

You really never loose what you learn. Your brain just has this remarkable ability to prioritize it's information.

Ever say something profound then aske your selve "where did that come from?"

It's probably that your brain found the perfect time to use some stored information.

Edward, I don't think we get stupid. I think that are brain doesn't have the space for all the old stuff. Anyways I think the more education our brains intake the grater the chances to develop Alzheimer's.

Yes. The mind is like a muscle, if you don't exercise it, it will become weak. If you read books, go to museums, and do other intellectually stimulating things, this won't happen as much.

Not "more stupid," just less quick to react to an answer or an action.
