My girlfriend says I have nice healthy nails but that I should get them professionally cleaned and trimmed, (I keep them clean myself for the most part). I work on my car a lot so sometimes my nails do get pretty dirty. I immediately say, “Hell No” though. She tries to tell me how it is not effeminate – but I disagree.
Am I being too extreme here, or do you agree with me? Just so you know… regardless of what you say, my mind is made up and I still am not going to do it. But I am curious to see if any other guys and girls agree with me or her.

I'm a woman and even I don't get manicures! I have beautiful nails and save myself a fortune taking care of them myself. I would NEVER ask a man I'm seeing to get one. Maybe I look at things a little differently than most. But a little dirt under the nails every now and then is nothing to be ashamed of. It shows your a working man, something to be proud of.

I think it is alright for a guy to get a manicure every now and then...as long as they don't get carried away with it. Women like guys that take pride in the way they look, but if it takes a man longer to get ready than a woman...somethings wrong :)

During a professional manicure, the manicurist often, if not always, massages your hands and arms up to the elbows. After working on cars all day, it would feel great.

I'm with you on this one... just not a manly type of thing to get done. Course I'm not too sure why a woman can't take care of her own nails either but pays someone to do them for her.

Yeah, it is alright. I have never done it, but that's just because I don't care enough to pay for it. I have cleaned and buffed my own nails, and plenty of women have said they wish they had my nails. I wouldn't pay for it though.

Hellooooo!!! Time to get metromale! It is so acceptable for men to get treatments at salons, to use correct products, to take care of themselves. A manicure is a great idea - do it do it.

It's totally fine for a guy to get manicures (and pedicures). You should book a his and hers spa appointment with your girl friend and do it together. It's fun...
