Do you have any frequent flier miles?
I buy EVERYTHING on my American Express card and got a free trip to Australia on Quantas, courtesy of it's partner airline Continental, where my miles accumulate.
65,000 miles (I'd saved them for several years) and $95 airport charges and tax. Quantas even arranged my visa for me.
The only thing is that with frequent flier flights you don't go direct, so I had stops in Hawaii and Guam. I stayed overnight in Guam and continued on the next day,as it's a pretty long flight.
Good luck! You'll enjoy everything. Snorkel or dive the Great Barrier Reef...it's worth the trip alone!
