Thanks for the support Adam. I don't know what doctrine you hold to (if any), but you are a great representative of it. And, to answer your question: it wouldn't surprise me.

The notion that Christians are persecuted in this country is absolute nonsense, and merely reveals the paranoia that exists among the Christian right. Most population studies still conclude that the United States is a predominately Christian country, with upwards to 80 percent of the population claiming to be a Christian of some denomination. This number hardly constitutes a minority, much less a subjugated minority.
If one attests that the array of ideologies and laws, held in this country, that happen to be at odds with Christian teaching is demonstrative of how “anti-Christian” this country is, I think the assessment is missing the point. The fact that ideologies and laws differ from what you believe to be Christian teaching underscore two things:
1.Maybe your interpretation of Christianity is not one that many other Christians subscribe to.
2.Many Christians are lackadaisical when it comes to shaping public opinion and policy, thus allowing vocal minorities to fill the political void.
Finally, I think many politically minded Christians concoct a false sense of persecution because their arguments are not sound enough to compete in the market place of ideas. By arrogating to yourselves a persecuted status they give themselves higher visibility.

We're bigoted Hitlers? We're not the ones prosecuting and judging anything and everything that threatens your "holy word".
Religion is the very thing that we are at war for. Therefore
religion = death.
Religion = conformity
In Christianity there is no such thing as free thought.
Maybe if you people weren't so close minded and non accepting of others, people wouldn't be so distant and hesitant of you.
Hitler was a Christian.

What was once on the fringe of the Republican party has now taken center stage. There used to be a Religious Right. Now, the terms "Bush," "Republicans" and (my favorite) "Rapture Right" are interchangeable. George Grant wrote in his book, The Changing of the Guard: Biblical Principles for Political Action, "World conquest. That's what Christ has commissioned us to accomplish. We must win the world with the power of the Gospel. And we must never settle for anything less. Thus, Christian politics has as its primary intent the conquest of the land - of men, families, institutions, bureaucracies, courts, and governments for the Kingdom of Christ. It is to reinstitute the authority of God's Word as supreme over all judgments, over all legislation, over all declarations, constitutions, and confederations." These are the wack-jobs that get "persecuted." Though, if you ask me, it is they who are ready to persecute.

Those are not Christians, idiot. Christians are people who follow the Christ, (ya know, Christ.. Christian..)
So which one of Christ's teachings do these people follow:
If one hits you on cheek, turn him the other?
Blessed are the peacemakers?
Judge not so that you may not be judged?
Love your enemies?
He who has no sin should cast the first stone?
Feed the hungry, shelter the homeless?
...
...
The ones we will throw to the lions are bigoted fundamentalist pagans who have stolen the name Christianity and have been using it for a while now. Are you one of them?

Uhh... they don't hate Christians. You just love to believe that. And who are you to be saying this? If you are a conservative (which you probably are...) realize you kill too, but instead of abortion, you kill criminals. Aren't you supposed to help sinners, not judge them? Stop stereotyping and don't be a hypocrite. (I am a moderate by the way, I just HATE stereotypes, DONT STEREOTYPE!!! IT KILLS ME!!!)
