How would the world be different today?

The first question would be to determine what conditions would have to be met to determine is the Soviet Union had prevailed in the Cold War. I think that the most likely option would have to be diplomatic isolation of the United States, i.e. the break-up of NATO and Western Europe under some form of Soviet hegemony. The same would have to be the case in much of Latin America, with Mexico as a likely site for a Communist revolution.

Another condition would probably include the rise of a truly socialist party in the United States that managed to gain power in the Federal government. For that to happen, I would guess that an economic collapse of some kind would have to occur, one where there would be a general outrage at large corporations. The renewal of trade unions would be vital.

The Cold War ended because the Soviet Union was unable to continue it. It had allocated far too much of its GDP to military expenditures that the infrastructure of the country was unable to keep up with the West. In other words, they got outdone economically due to containment policies. It's not so much that the Soviet Union lost it, but that all sides (the West, the Soviet Bloc, China, and neutral third-world nations) managed to survive it.

Probably not much different, except it would be Russia fighting in the middle East trying to control as much of the world as possible (at least where there is oil).

No University tuition fees.

No more monarchy.

Everyone in some kind of job.

Communial living, no one would have their own house.

10 year wait before you got your hands on your own car.

State-run media, no freedom of speech.

Anyone with anti-state views visited at night by KGB Operatives.

Any argument is pointles.
I've two friends who lived in East Germany before the Berlin Wall was pulled down and they mentioned this stuff took place. They had no trouble with the KGB but it is widely documented throghout the former USSR that these things happened.

base jumping would be legal, so would most other things, hollywood would be blitzed at last. Cheap vodka, travants and ladas would rule the roads. Brilliant commy uniforms for the army.

But on the negative side, all music would be the beetles, food would be rationed, nuclear meltdowns would be happening all over hahaha, nah thats all crap, everyone would be too drunk to care, woo party

We'd all be dirt farmers. Israel would be wiped off the face of the Earth. Healthcare would be socialized, but of such low quality there might as well be none at all. We would all fear for our lives for saying the wrong thing, or not saying enough of the right thing. Basically your 1984 stuff going on.

Define "win". Some would say they won because they got the first person into space.

But I'd be up for worldwide communism. And Russians are cool.

I'm too tired to properly debate this though.

They would have collapsed anyway, no one 'won' the cold war, Russia collapsed. If they hadnt, it just would have gone on, and on, and on, until someone snapped and pressed the damn button
