HELP! what movie am i thinking of??!? Canadians probably know?

i think its a CTV movie from a couple years ago. its based on a true story about a kid who gets beaten up by bullies and he gets really hurt. i think it was his first year in highschool and he got involved in a gang or something like that. all i remember is that he liked this girl, and when he was in the hospital the girl brought him root beer lollipops...and also the movie begins with him jogging in his neighborhood
