Sometimes when I download certain things a window appears and says "Windows cannot open this file" then it gives me to choices "Use the web service to find the appropriate program" (if I choose this it takes me to a Windows page and nothing happens) or "select the program from a list" (when I choose I program it says that the program is unable to read the file). What do I do, please help?

I'm not sure the exact type, it says Type: Al file

Just means you dont have the program to open the file. Sounds like a compressed file to me.

go to this link:

Download the correct program that will open it.

Could also be a PDF supported file. Read about it:

You might need to install Illustrator.

It means windows doesn't know what program it should use to open the file. For example, trying to open an excel .xls file without having Excel or Office installed will get you that error message. To open it, you need to find out what kind of file(s) it is and install a program that will run it.

Whenever it says that, it means that no program on your computer can properly open and display the file. You need another program to open it.
