No, it isn't. You cannot possibly NOT have culture. There is no such thing, because we are human beings.

Some americans have culture. We are like anyone else. Some people retain culture and others do not. It all depends. I live in new mexico. Many people here retain a long history of culture. Some people have taken on a popular culture. I am from a culture that has immigrated here from a very long time ago. I am not connected to it, but I know what it means and I know what the traditions are. I know the history of my culture. I know the persecution of my culture. I choose to enjoy all cultures and think about all ideas. That is my choice. I was born in New Mexico and take the culture here as mine.

It is a difficult situation. Mexico for sure has a culture: it's food, it's music, it's ways, it's religion, etc. The US is different. There are sooo many influences and so many recent immigration trends that it did not all mix together to form one culture as did the indigeous and Spanish in Mexico. Here really have no food. Does McDonalds count?? Even at that I believe the hamburger is German. The music....yeah we listen to it, but it is not a rich part of the culture. Jazz is American music but ask people on the street when is the last time they listened to or if they have even heard of Charlie Parker and Duke Ellington. There are several religions here that make different way of life and holidays.

I think it means that those Americans choose not to look into their heritage and make their culture. I am Irish/American and very proud of it . I choose to study my family genealogy, Irish celtic folk history and reclaim my heritage by learning the old culture and Irish dance. I have plenty of culture. Some Americans are just confused to the fact that every culture is a part of American culture.

Because America is a melting pot of people from different countries and backgrounds the idea of a seperate American Culture is something others don't understand. America has a culture both historically and presently that is unique, but it's constantly evolving and doesn't have as many legends or historical curioisities and many other great nations.

America is such a diverse country that it is really hard to say we have an culture. That actually saddens me because I am an American girl and I feel that americans are lazy about things and our "culture" is not as interesting as others.

SURE, we have culture! I mean, how do you explain Independence Day? We ALWAYS have fire works!
What about the hamburger? We invented that!
Also, there's the apple pie!
Don't forget the light bulb!
We have tons of culture! It's just those normal everyday things!
