I work in car sales, just tarted again after a three year hiatus. Probelm is I can't seem to sell anything, and my manager is getting antsy, and I've lost confidence in myself as a salesperson. Does anybody know of any motivatoinal websites I could look at? And do you think I should look for a different job before the boss has a chance to fire me?

Please, do not take this in the wrong way, but I have just seen a study on television where they set up men and women to sell cars to male and female purchaser's.

It seem's traditionally, that men prefer to purchase automobiles by men only, and not women. I forgot the name of the program, but it was amazing how the men surpassed the women car dealers and headed directly to the men, and the women shopping for cars went directly to the women.

Dont' take it personal, but in reality, Most men, not all, prefer to deal with men when it comes to auto sales, electronic equipment, mechanics, and such.

When my husband and I were shopping to purchase a suv for (me) for work, can you believe the sales guy only dealt with my husband, and looked at me a few times and said, your husband made a good choice in choosing this vehicle, when actually it was (my) choice.

It's a guy thing!! Give it another try, if it doesn't work, find something else that will make you happy. Or come up with a more realistic sales pitch, like...Hey are you interested in this particular vehicle, if so, I can assist you...but please do not under estimate me because I'm a female, I've been doing this for some time now..(See if that pitch will work)

try to build up a friendly conversation, make sure you do not sound too phoney, otherwise a purchaser will think you will be dishonest all the way through.

Good luck, and don't give up so quickly, if you have a talent for sales, prove it to your boss. Sometimes they add pressure just to see if you can pull through, he need's you just as much as you need him! Never let them see you sweat!

Intuition is the key here. Should you have that feeling, it probably will happen. Now, to get a step ahead of your boss, I would suggest that you accidentally hurt a part of your body and make sure someone sees you, and then immediately report the accident and then they will send you to their doctor. You will need to file an injury report. Then, you can leave with a workers comp claim and have a little time to look for another job, while having a pending claim. You must not tell anyone you intentionally hurt yourself... okay?

If you keep thinking you might get fired, the more likely you won't perform well at your job. Keep those thoughts aside for a while but also look for another job.

Anxiety is one of factors that keep a person from performing well.

Talk to your manager and express to him/her that you would like some advice about improving your sales. If your employer knows that you are trying and taking steps to improve your sales, they will be more likely to give you some time to bring your sales back up to speed.
