The Terraplane was a car first built in 1932 by the Hudson Motor Car Company. The Terraplane was an inexpensive yet powerful vehicle that was used in both town and country, as both cars and trucks bore the Terraplane name. The Terraplane was produced until 1939, when Hudson simply called its low end model the 112.

Yeah, it's a car. I imagine they wanted to give the impression it could fly on land. Hence the name, terra and plane. Robert Johnson was great, I'm a big blues fan myself, kudos for listening to him.
