It can mean a lot of things. Like I know my GP, Harry, squeaks when he is hungry, he squeaks when you play with him, but when he is lonely he squeaks too. Try letting him out of the cage for a little while. Holding him that little bit longer. Give him and extra treat now and then. Try to learn what each squeak means, ALSO he may just LOVE to hear himself talk. Ha Ha Ha. Good Luck.

when a guinea pig squeaks it is trying to tell you something. it could be out of water, food or jsut wants some attention. i know my guinea pig squeaks everytime she hears my moms voice or if it's carrot time. i will sit and make squeaking sounds right back at her. if you get them to squeak and to know that they are happy their ears will twitch or flop it's kinda funny. if you get your guinea pig on timed meal plans or play time it will squeak to let you know that it's time for one of them to things. each squeak has a different meaning to it. reasearch the difference in on the net or at your local library. once you do that you will be able to understand your guinea pig more.

Probably means he is in a pensive mood and is in deep contemplative thought, thinking about the meaning of life and where we all fit into the universal scheme of things. My guinea pig squeaks when it reads Plato's "The Republic."

No, they squeak a lot. I had some growing up. They could be hungry, excited, scared, anything. Usually you can tell the difference between the squeaks after awhile.

Guinea pigginese can mean alot of stuff. Mine used to week, week when I had been gone for awhile and they wanted me to say hi. Then I could bring groceries in and they knew that the rustle of plastic bags could be food so they would week, week. I had some who were off the kitchen in the breakfast nook and they came to know that there were usually veggies or fruit in one of those bags or even better some yogi treats! Around our house a plastic bag always got that kind of response! I had one who was spoiled rotten and he's week, week until I came in there and pick him up! He loved to sit in the palm of my hand and eat a peeled banana. Even though he ate only a little he still thought he was a BIG SHOT. He would also week, week when he needed water or food or thought some of the gp's around him needed some. Sometimes they just talk to each other with a week, week. If it's alone, it could be a little lonely. Go pick it up and give it some love! GP's are very social animals! Could be you have some vocal gps.

Guinnies squeak for all kinds of reasons.. If they're scared, especially, they'll squeal and run.. If they're content they'll squeak.. (Mine used to always grunt and squeak when she was eating.. that was when she was the happiest and most content.) ...I would think sadness would be the last reason for them to squeak, rather they tend to get very quiet.

Nope, ours did it all the time...especially when we started feeding him carrots and he'd squeak like mad every time the refrigerator door opened.
