Earth Day is a yearly event held to promote awareness of environmental issues. The first was in 1970. Each country either plant trees or flowers, people may stop driving as much as possible that day using only bicycles, do majors clean up jobs on the beaches, hold exhibitions on the effects of polution, and so many other things. Schools also get involved in this to create the awareness in children.

We had Mass Ceremony on the site of the smokey mountain during the Earth Day Celebration. And the first church with environment friendly materials will be erected there. Environment materials are the Philippine plywoods invented by one of our scientists that are made of leaves with imbedded seeds so that if you want to change your wall, you can just simply throw the plywoods and seedling will come out of those plywoods.
I was able to see the house model out of this new invention in our Zero Waste Management Office last year.

Earth Day in the USA is April 22. That is the birthday for Edward Albert Heimberger, better known as Eddie Albert, the actor, war hero, and conservation activist. He is credited with helping ban DDT several decades ago - and now eagles can soar again. Google him and find out more about the guy we mostly think of as "Oliver Douglas" on Green Acres - there was a lot more to the man.

My country is the good old US of A. It gives lip service to
EarthDay only.

They do not care about preserving anything on this planet - they only care about establishing ownship for any area with natural resources.

Why, because that's where the money is and the US are greedy capitalists.

buying more SUV's, flushing more toilet paper, using more resources than any of our closest neighbors....What the heck is "earth day" for anyway...If not for man's ability to take advatage of the earths resources...and compationately live / rule on this rock in space...what would the earth be anyway...for that matter...if man weren't here doing what we do on earth...who would be here to celebrate earth day?...the owl's?.,......I was at work on earth day taking care of my family and making sure my taxes were paid so that the gov could take care of all the lazy a#$ people that think the earth owes them some kind of life/lifestyle.

Unfortunately, here in the UK, Earth Day is virtually forgotten about. I didn't even know it existed until I was on holiday in the African continent.
