I personally believe that the USA has one of the worst lower level educational systems in the developed world. I believe that a European separation of good students and poor students would help our system a lot. The problem is that that sort of system is not "the US American way." If you segregate students at an early age and limit their educational options, people would complain (and some slow starters will not get much of a chance).

Although Europe (and several Asian countries) have (in my opinion) a better lower level and college level educational system than the USA, the USA is one of the leading (if not the leading) countries in Graduate studies. Many of the new scientific discoveries come from the USA. This does not mean that most of the discoveries are coming from US Americans (because many Europeans and Asians are moving to the USA to teach and do research) though.

A couple things to note about your video:

A) Those were not questions about intelligence or education. They were mostly about geography. US Americans should know a lot more about geography than they do, but if you can't judge the entire educational system on those questions.

B) This was basically the same trick that David Blaine does with cameras. If you walk around with a camera and ask enough people to think of a number and then guess the same one, you are going to get 10-20 people to be surprised when you guess their number. If you only show the times you actually guessed the number, people may actually believe that you can guess people's numbers.
Likewise, if you ask enough people the same questions, you are going to get many idiots that think Australia is South Korea and don't know where Sri Lenka is. You could actually do the same thing with quantum mechanics questions and "prove" that the average US American knows the answers to those questions.

To answer you question clearly:

I don't think that US Americans are more uneducated than the REST of the developed world, but they a) are too low on the list, and b) probably use their economic power towards education worse than the rest of the developed world.

i'm no longer a conservative, yet comprehend that we are speaking approximately ranges right here. interior the US, there are not any conceivable socialist, communist, xenophobic or fascist events, while in aspects of Europe there are. Socialism isn't a grimy be conscious the place you reside or in different eu worldwide places. So whilst somebody campaigns against immigration or seems very professional-nationalism interior the US, he gets called a fascist or a xenophobe. whilst somebody basically reorders and expands the situation of government, he gets called a socialist. Do i think of Obama is a card-carrying socialist? No. Do i think of he's an financial authoritarian? genuinely, sure. He will pay modest deference to markets, as in industry forces, yet has no comprehend for the seen a unfastened industry. enable me qualify that with the aid of asserting that maximum US politicians are the comparable way and are only arguing over the place the line could desire to be. As a believer in a very unfastened industry, i do no longer see large distinction between Republicans or Democrats. and because you reside in this style of suitable-down economically regulatory state, the line we are arguing approximately interior the US seems stupid to you. Edit: What eu political equipment, the ever-usual eu? the US shape is the oldest interior the international and the equipment of government right it is somewhat logical and stepped forward, somewhat whilst in comparison with many eu states that are consistently forsaking and recreating their governments. So i'm no longer probably useful you understand very plenty concerning to the US equipment and doubtless you would be sensible to study it a touch thinking the US shape has been the muse and foundation for many present day democracies the international over, explicitly and implicitly.

In other parts of the world everyone is requiered and is considered normal to go to a 4 year univercity.

If they dont attend a univercity, they wont get any job, not even janitor or maid.

In the U.S just with passing highschool you get a job easily. Therefore, people in America have a lower persentage of education compared to the rest of the developed world.

So, i dont think that Americans are more uneducated, they just have more options.

Americans are defiantly uneducated. Being a world super power is the only thing that is going with them, If you take away all the money, power, and those kinds of stuff you will be left with the most uneducated place on earth.

Yes. We blame it on the system (ie lack of teachers, large numbers of students in one class, etc.) but you can have crappy systems in underdeveloped countries where the children learn more than American children. It comes down to motivation. American children may underestimate the great value of education.

There are examples of foreign children coming to America doing extremely well in school. The same schools people complain about and blame poor educational conditions for the American kids not learning.

No. I think it's actually safe to say that we're MORE educated. Try picking up a magazine on science and technology sometime and you'll notice that a very larger percentage of technical advancement comes from the US. We are at the forefront of computer technology, software, biotech, nanotechnolgy, medicine, and just about anything that really matters to the future of humanity.
