because society is having a harder time accepting gay men then woman so they portray gay men in hopes they will be accepted. Also gay men can act more feminine but what about woman. Gay men can stand out, you know a guy is gay, but not with women.

Because gay men and women watch gay male themed shows.
Mostly lesbians watch the lesbian- themed shows.
Smaller audience = smaller ratings
smaller ratings = fewer of those sorts of shows.
Producers only develop shows to make money, not to advance a cause.
