Neat! I really like the question! I am a cat person, but not a dog hater because of it. As for whch type (dog or cat) i want my friends to be, it seems irrelevant to me, although really cute. I need-like most of us- a Cat / Dog hybrid I think. Cat owners adore cats because they have a Defiance and Independance to them. You don't really need to pay attention to a cat, yet it still will give you attention. Dog Lovers adore dogs, because they are a loyal and protective friend, who will readily fit into your pattern of living. I wanted my wife not because she was either a dog (bad pun) or a cat, but I do find both in her. Let's not make the question the sole basis for a relationship though!

But both animals are capable of having all four qualities.
Every animal is individual, regardless of the species. My two kitties are two very distinct personalities. I'd say one is loving, loyal and smart and the other is playful, couragous and dumb as a rock.
It's kind of like people - you can't judge the book by its fur.

I am more a dog, I am faithful and loyal, but not too smart. my husband is more cat, really smart and would do anything for anyone, give his shirt off his back so to speak
