A tubal is not 100% in preventing pregnancy, but leaves you more susceptable for having an ectopic pregnancy. As time goes by, there is also a chance of the ends growing back together. As far as future fertility both a tubal reversal and ivf would be possible. Women under the age of 40 who have a tubal reversal through the traditional surgical methods have a 70% to 80% pregnancy success rate, with conception usually occurring during the first year after the procedure. Women who have microsurgery done have a slightly higher success rate, with about 90% of women becoming pregnant within one year of the procedure. However, tubal ligation success rates tend to decline with a woman’s age although they are still better than IVF pregnancy rates. Having a tubal reversal does increase your risk of experiencing an ectopic pregnancy. Among the general population, about 1 in 100 women will experience an ectopic pregnancy. However, for women who have had a tubal reversal, this risk increases to about 5 in 100 women. Not all women who have had a tubal ligation will be able to have the procedure reversed. During your initial assessment for the procedure, your fertility specialist will examine the current health of your fallopian tubes, most likely through laparoscopy. She will also look over the surgery and pathology reports from when you originally had the procedure done. Tubal reversal would cost around $5000 and up. Invitro typically costs more. You would have to have a reversal, which is a much more difficult operation than getting them tied in the first place. You may need to have a laparoscopy first to determine whether there is enough tube left to make a go of it.

A tubal ligation usually takes less than half an hour to do. Reversing that may take four hours or longer, with no guarantee of success.

You may have more luck with in vitro fertilization, where the whole tube thing can just be bypassed, but that'sno walk in the park either.

The failure rate for tubal ligation is usually quoted as 1-2 per thousand, so about 99.9% chance of not getting pregnant without some serious effort to undo the TL.

Oh um, well there have been cases where women have given birth to twins after getting the operation. In other cases, women have gotten pregnant in their abdomens rather than in their uterus which is extremely painful and dangerous for both the mother and the baby. What people have to realize is that sperm cells are extremely tiny and can sometimes pass through impossible spaces and fertilize an egg cell. No, there is not necessarily a "good" chance of these things happening, but there are possibilities. Best thing is safe sex.

They aren't tied anymore, so very unlikely. Tubal ligation actually involves cutting and seering the fallopian tubes at each end so eggs cannot drop from the ovaries for fertilization. Extremely unlikely you'd get pregnant unless you get it reversed.

I have heard of guys being able to impregnate women after a vasectomy. My cousin Eric is one of them. We all thought his wife was cheating on him, but it was HIS! We could hardly believe it.

If you want another baby, you have to get a reversal done. They are very expensive and a major surgery. If you do not want another baby, don't worry, there is a very slim chance that you could ever have one.

P.S. Think about adoption.

If they are truly just tied, it is more reversible than if you got them cut. But it is still not very likely. If you plan to not get any procedure done, then it is only like a .03% chance of getting pregnant each time you have unprotected sex.

Mine have been done for 7yrs so far so good. But I have heard of many still getting pregnant, but most of these are tubal pregnancies. I have a friend that had a tubal got pregnant and had her baby fine. Guess there's no 100% birth control besides abstinence.

No the chances are extremely slim. Some have still gotten pregnant though after having that operation.
