The best way to start is to read.
Try to locate "new age" or "metaphysical" book shops. They usually have like-minded people and they usually post flyers for workshops, classes and study groups. That is how you start meeting others and once they feel comfortable with you and feel you are a serious seeker, they may invite you to some of their gatherings. That's how it all starts!

For one you need to decide what you are looking for - a witch coven, Pagan 'coven' or a Wicca coven. That for a start will make life a lot easier; witch-wise you have most religions (as well as atheism and agnosticism) that have witchcraft within their ranks. Pagan is a very broad term so you could be looking at anything there. Wicca specifically is a priesthood so without knowledge you have a long way to go (even then they are hard to find and hard to become a member of).
Once you have decided what sort of coven you want to join then you can start looking, places like Witchvox and UK based Pagan organisations are the best to start off with. Going onto forums to help with your study and going to local moots to find local Pagans would also be useful.
Really without more information as to what you are looking for specifically I would be unable to help you, however if it is Wicca specifically you are interested in send me a message and I'd be happy to help you out.

I live in America, but I'd be happy to help you out as best I can. I've been practicing for more than five years. If you have any specific questions, feel free to contact me.
As far as finding a coven goes, I would recommend the website: www.witchvox.com. It has listings of covens around the world.

You can probably find them on the Web, or even in the phone book--I can't help you there.
But I can advise you to take your time picking one out. Allow me to front you a few guidelines.
1-If they're big on 'so mote it be...'--pass.
2-If they're asking more in money or time or devotion than you're willing to invest--pass.
3-If males are considered lesser people within the group--pass.
4-If sex is a primary factor in their rituals--pass.
5-If they encourage you to take their word for it rather than explaining it--pass.
6-If the first thing they teach you is NOT limits--don't just pass, run like hell!
By the way, Wicca is not really witchcraft, and if it claims to be, it ain't really Wicca.
You want to be a Wiccan, an herbalist, a healer or a Crafter? n You need to make up your mind about that before you do anythiing.

It can be difficult to find a suitable Coven, or any Coven at all, and therefore many Wiccans are solitary practitioners. I am one of them and would be happy to communicate with you and share experience. I just sent you an e-mail in regard to that. Good Luck!

Well first, no one will teach you. That is not what a coven leader is for. They will guide, but they won't do it for you. I have been looking for a coven to join , but where I live if they found out what you were they would probably kick you out of the town. So I have had no luck in that depatment. But I wish you the best of luck!!

try the pagan networking pages on www.witchvox.com - they have listings for the UK, as well as US and other countries.
There are a lot of witches in England. You should be able to find someone.
Also seek out occult bookstores, or herbal/magickal supply shops - many of them hold classes, too.

Hmm , why must people run from the truth...
Look up into the heavens. Who created all the stars? He brings them out one after another, calling each by its name. And he counts them to see that none are lost or have strayed away.
