I predict it will be the usual "race baiting" and "class warfare" approach with the "we love the troops just hate the troops ideals" thrown in as well as the"Vietnam" allegories, "I invented Global Warming" "Patriot Act is ruining my, well SOMETHING" routine, some more" Gay Marriage is the 60's Civil Rights struggle" followed by "This country was forged by Immigrants and Millions and Millions of Mexicans" wail right before Nancy Pelosi abhors why beastiality is STILL ILLEGAL!!!

If they are smart, they will abandon the anti-Bush stuff and focus on an actual platform. The problem is that the Dems are too fractured and do not have a uniform set of positions they can all rally behind. If I were a Democrat, I would want to see a focus on the following issues:
Reduce Govt spending
Re-evaluation and simplification of tax code
Substantial alternative fuel research
Stem cell research
These are areas that the general population agree with but the Reps have lacked in. Spending is out of control, partly due to Iraq and Katrina. The tax code needs to move toward more of a comsumption-based system with incentived maintained to promote home ownership. Programs that allow lower and middle income people to afford stuff like solar conversion for their homes or hybrid vehicles (remember that most lower/middle income people cannot afford either right now). Find a middle ground for stem-cell research advancement.
if the Dems focus on their same old rhetoric and talking down to people that are considered "conservative" rather than acknowledge their views and develop a more widely accepted platform, they will almost ensure another 8 years of Republican rule. I may be a Republican, but I vote on the issues, not along party lines.

To use Nascarspeak, "Ain't nuthin more 'merican that havin' HONEST elections where EVERY vote is counted". The Mexicans are now out on the street showing the USA and the world how it SHOULD be done when elections are suspect and a total recount is needed to verify the result. Their initial announced vote difference is a FULL 1%, whereas the alledged difference in the USA in 2000 was .001% and we couldn't get it done with the precision necessary to have a TRUE VERIFIED result.

i could argue it replace into Republicans who made gun administration a suitable challenge, Democrats had to develop background checks that's some thing a majority of the rustic helps. Republicans voted against the overpowering will of the human beings, so Democrats will genuinely be waiting to point to Republicans as obstructors of the yank will. interior the top, Democrats have extra to make the main of attempting gun regulations and then Republicans blockading them because of the fact there are a myriad of unfavourable techniques Democrats can now portray the Republicans who voted against the degree.

Since the democrats can't get focused....no issues. Just a bunch of pap they will try to shove down our throats.
They can't use the economy as an issue as the deficit was just cut in half thanks to the tax cuts. More revenue going to the government...they can't complain.
They can't use Bush because he's not running again.
They can't use illegal immigration because they sound foolish everytime they try. Come on--- what's the definition of illegal anyway?
They can't use the war without sounding like their pulling for the terrorists.
They can't use gay rights without putting them in the same category as minorities and minorities are starting to resent it.
They can't use global warming because it will start getting cooler again in the fall and people are starting to see through that lie.
Hmmmm.....I guess no issues= no win.

They will have to wait to see what the polls say. Then they will bash the GOP for not solving this issues and the media won't even ask about their plans for change.
ie Gas prices...they will investigate "big oil" but they will do nothing to pressure Detroit as too many union jobs would be at risk...therefore an investigation is their energy "plan".

The three top issues will be how much better they will do on the war against terror and defense, how they always support the troops, and how they are for family & religion. They'll continue to lie in other words, but with the help of the media people will believe them.

They have to get back to basics.
The focus on the economy and how to get the US out of this Republican-driven deficit.
A smart and intelligent way to get out of Iraq.
Ethics in both the election process and how members of Congress conduct themsleves.
A viable plan for dealing with illegal immigration.
It's a start.

jerryh8391 is exactly right...
"vote for us, we hate Bush"
EDIT: Actually, the timing for this question is perfect...
The Democrats main campaign theme is obviously going to center on their belief that voters should not be required to identify themselves when they go to vote:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060717/ap_on_el_ge/voter_id;_ylt=AqLHe3DaCWxoKYdHvMkbt4Jp24cA;_ylu=X3oDMTA5aHJvMDdwBHNlYwN5bmNhdA--
The headline is:
"Democrats challenge new Mo. voter ID law"
"(Democrat) Officials in Missouri's two largest cities filed a lawsuit Monday to block a new state law requiring voters to show photo identification.
Under the law, voters starting this November will need a photo ID issued by either the state of federal government, such as a driver's license, to cast a regular ballot."
My, my,my... wonder why Democrats are so opposed to requiring people to actually produce identification when they go to vote?

How they are going to fix what the radical right masquerading as Republicans have ruined.
Hatred for Bush is not blind. It is open-eyed and acute. It is his supporters who are blind, craven followers. He and his throw a sop to people and they lap it up while he pursues conservative radicalism and drags us deeper into debt and farther into isolation and comtempt.
