Do you mean "oil track" or the actual lane? If it is the "oil track", various factors such as heat, cold and humidity will affect it and means that your equipment may hit the dry spots quicker or slower depending on the atmospheric conditions.

If it is the actual lane, I have no single answer for that other than they way the oil it, if it's worn out and pitted from use and lofting, and if it is not properly conditioned.

Depends on the bowling alley. some put mroe time nad money into their equipment so it works better and last longer. plus it also depends on the people bowling. if they mess up the equipment also.
