she just does because she's bored

If she pretends they talk then she is really bored. However, combing the hair and dressing it to create certain styles is done by many collectors who are adults. Some of these are considered very successful in their careers and at home. There is no law against it. If it does not keep her from the tasks that need to be completed, there is no issue here. What kind of person is she excluding this activity? If she is honest and dependable with family and friends, that should mean much more. Just treat her the same way you would if she wasn't doing it. After all, this is her way of dealing with life which is not hurting anybody. I saw a program where adults in various toy companies play with the toys they create to judge the quality of them and the amount of enjoyment they provide. These people make good money for doing it. Toy Story was created by a company where playing with toys was very common. Think how much money this company earned from just that movie. Did you know that in early film making history that some scenes were shot using dolls instead of real people because the technology of today had not been invented yet? This made it possible to create parts of a movie without the need of paying the expense of making life size scenery and stunt people. That was one technique used in film making.

Look --at 14 you've got all kinds of choices of things to do--and the cool thing about it is that you can pick any of those things and it is perfectly okay---play brats until the cows come home...and it's just fine as far as I'm concerned (but get all that done before you're 16 or they might think you're wierd then)

It's normal. Just tell her not to let her friends know, someone will tease her. I played with dolls for a lot longer than I should have, but when do you get to be a kid again? Just keep it secret, it's safer.

There's nothing wrong with that. I think I played with my Barbies until I was 13 or 14. At that age it's just fun to dress them up and give them makeovers. If she enjoys it, there is no reason to make her stop. She could be doing worse things, so be thankful.

Let her play its a doll. girls play with dolls. why do you want her to grow up to fast.Better to play with a doll when bored then to be out getting into trouble or playing with boys.maybe its a sign that she is just not ready to grow up yet...I'd talk to her about it....good luck

Normal as in prep/cool-wise
probably not.
But if I still had mine I probably would.
I threw them away on whim along with
Polly Pockets.
I had this urge to buy them at Big Lots
and it took a lot of willpower not to buy them.
It doesn't really matter unless
it bothers you.
If it does quit, and hang with friends.
If your friends play with them too,
then hell,
keep on.

Absolutely not, even if society makes you feel you're too old! The simple fact is you are still a child, and there is NOTHING wrong with that! Society has taken the innocence out of children, and that is WRONG!

its wonderful, I mean now days it seems like more 14 year olds are playing with something else, stay young while you can. Adulthood is not all it's cracked up to be.

Better then playing with her 14 month old baby.....I see nothing wrong with it. Is she hurting anyone? Shows she has a good imagination.
